Bio

Julie has been advising within the College of Biological Sciences since 2008. Julie began her career at UC Davis in 2005, in the Office of the University Registrar, then moved to the Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering Department as an advising coordinator, working with both their undergraduate and graduate programs.

Julie joined MCB in 2008 to focus on undergraduate advising. She has a passion for advising students to help them to achieve academic success. Julie earned her B.A. degree in Liberal Studies, Women's Studies option, with a focus on counseling from the University of Montana-Missoula. She volunteered at the YWCA Battered Women's shelter, and was also a domestic violence group co-facilitator.

While earning an M.A. in Mental Health counseling and working as the office manager for the Educational Leadership and Counseling Department graduate program at the University of Montana, Julie discovered a love of advising students in an academic setting. She changed direction, and moved to California to be closer to family and pursue a career as a student advisor at UC Davis.

When not advising students, Julie loves visiting with family and friends in California and Montana, hiking, motorcycle riding, leisurely rafting the Missouri river or the shooting rapids down the Alberton Gorge, strolling down the streets of Carmel and roasting marshmallows on the beach.
