Shannan has been supporting undergraduate students in the natural and social sciences at large public research institutions since 2011 and has been leading individuals, programming, and projects since 2012. Within her professional advising roles, she has provided academic and career advising and has taught a professional preparation service-learning course.
She is a first-generation college graduate who has obtained two degrees from Indiana University: a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master of Science in Education with focus in counseling and counselor education. Shannan is a believer in the power of mentorship and connection. If she had to provide one piece of advice to undergraduate students, it would be to explore available opportunities and get connected to campus early. In Shannan’s free time, she practices mindfulness by getting outdoors, likes exploring new places (especially the food), and enjoys playing and cuddling with her dog, Nico
