Dr. Binglian Zheng, Fudan University, Shanghai, China, presents "Intronic lariat RNA turnover in plants".
Binglian Zheng is a Professor of Biochemistry at Fudan University, where she has been a faculty member since 2012. The Zheng laboratory investigates the biogenesis, mechanisms, and functions of non-coding RNAs, with a focus on small RNAs lariat RNAs, and transposon-derived RNAs in plants. Her recent research has revealed how the turnover of intronic lariat RNAs—traditional considered “junk” splicing by-products—is regulated and plays critical roles in plant development, stress adaptation, and antiviral defense. These findings have been published in leading journals, including Molecular Cell, Developmental Cell, The Plant Cell, PNAS, and Nature Communications.
