Position Title
Lecturer
- Molecular and Cellular Biology
Research Interests
In my research, I study enzymes, metal ions, and microcalorimetry. In my teaching, I embrace interaction and aim to captivate my students. During lectures and labs, I provide them with guiding questions, urge them to visit me during office hours, and organize discussion sessions before each exam. I make it a point to jot down their first names during office hours, and, by the end of the term, I'm personally acquainted with around twenty individuals.
In our laboratory course, MCB 120L, my teaching style balances guidance with exploration. I give students necessary information and then step aside, giving them the freedom to delve into the experiments. I’m there when they need me. However, it's through their missteps that some of the most profound learning takes place. I encourage them to maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks and submit comprehensive lab reports. My goal is to foster their self-assurance and self-reliance with the overarching objective of preparing them for the world of genuine research.
