The UC Davis College of Biological Science has established a series of virtual town hall sessions for students but the event is also open to faculty, staff and the public who want to learn more about COVID-19.

College of Biological Sciences Offers Weekly Virtual COVID-19 Town Hall Through May 29

The UC Davis College of Biological Science has established a series of virtual town hall sessions for students but the event is also open to faculty, staff and the public who want to learn more about COVID-19.

The weekly sessions, held on Fridays from 3:30 to 5 p.m., feature UC Davis Health physicians and specialists in microbiology, public health and immunology. The series began April 10 and runs through May 29.

COVID-19 Town Hall Schedule

April 17 - James Hildreth, president and CEO, Meharry Medical College, and Allison Brashear, UC Davis School of Medicine dean, will discuss health care disparities.

April 24 - Jonna Mazet, director of the One Health Institute at UC Davis, will discuss emerging infectious diseases.

May 1 - Angela Haczku, professor and associate dean for translational research, published research on first community-acquired COVID-19 case treated at UC Davis Medical Center

May 8 - Lisa Ikemoto, Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis, specializes in bioethics, health care and public health law, and policy

May 15 - Daniel Sumner, distinguished professor and director of the UC Agricultural Issues Center, will discuss food supply-chain issues.

May 22 - Richard Harris, National Public Radio science reporter, will discuss covering the pandemic

May 29 - Elizabeth Joh, Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis,, will discuss limits of the government's power and other constitutional issues raised by the pandemic.
